reading through old entries [01 Mar 2009|09:11pm]
I have been reading through some old entries.  Some of them sound retarded, some are interesting and some I don't remember at all.  Example being at entry made around may 2004

"But then again pephaps the secret to relationships are to end up being miserable together. I ran into a friend of a friend today and it turns out shes (Megan) is all into this guy named Dusty, an absolute crackhead druggie.... Through oonversation she told me her last b/f was into drugs, treated her like shit, yet she stayed with him 3 years. Perhaps I'm a bit jealous, she did look an awful lot like Natalie Portman. My god, she could be her sister, very attractive. :(",

I don't remember a Megan and especially one that looked like Natalie Portman.  You would think I would remember something like that since I still adore her.   My comments about love later in the post sound childish.  I've been in a couple relationships since then and I hope I have matured.   After all I am getting old.

I like my StarWars theme, it's neat even if it's outdated.  Alot of things have happen to me since I started this blog, it's interesting to look back and see what was

I forgot I had a livejournal [01 Mar 2009|08:51pm]
I forgot I had a live journal and I even used this name until I found the link in my stumbleupon acount.  J deama came from my mom.  It stands for Jack, derrick, eric, alec, Micheal.  The other A I added on just cause it sounded better.    You can find all my updated stuff at myspace, twitter, digg, facebook, IGN.  I don't use them all but my username is derrickkendall, sometimes derrickkendalls.

I've been watching 'What the bleep do we know' and at first it seems like a bunch of new age bullshit regarding quantum mechanics but maybe it's not. I understand that theory behind it, It's basically an explanation for everything. The problem is that it requires so much thought, you can never really understand everything 100%. And because there are sooo many possiblities - the direction of thinking it makes you take is drastically different than the norm

Most of it is like the chicken and the egg scenerio except with reality and perception.

My sister got really drunk last night, it was so amusing. I've never seen her wasted before and I think this might of been the first time she's every got drunk. She's such a hoot. She actually held her own pretty good for being 19

[ mood | bored ]

I sliced my finger cutting a bagel yesterday...hardcore huh? It's right on the tip so typing sucks. It was one of those shitty bagels that don't have a starter cut

Also read some starwars spoilers, all I hear are good things about the 3rd movie. Rewatched episode 1, it sucks, the kid playing Anakin is just too damn young, if feels weird. The movie is too damn happy and boring. Thankfully episode 2 is still good.

Oh watched some shows about the holocaust, damn dirty jews

I kid! It seems unbelievable that it actually happen

Sunday [24 Apr 2005|08:34pm]
[ mood | headache ]

7:54am - Woke up, was really tired. Had to pee, took care of that and laid back down to sleep

10:OOam - Woke up for good, was thinking about watching StarWars A New Hope since I would like to watch them all again sometime before episode 3. Decided to eat breakfast instead, made Pancakes. They were really dry, even with the lime and sugar

11:OOam - went upstairs to take a shower. Showered it up, got dressed and went online for a while and looked at some porn. Came to the realization that I've been horny lately and I need a girlfriend

12:45pm - got a call for my dad asking for help

1:20pm - arrived at my dads, he wants help putting tint on the windows of his truck. And by help I mean me do it all while he tries to help but ends up just getting in the way. He doesn't have the patience for it. Anybody that has done tint knows that it takes a while and you slowly have to work the air bubbles out. Also you have to have a steady hand cutting the edges. He doesn't have the patience

4pm - Finish with tint. By this time my stepmom had dinner ready. I ate some roast, potates, corn, and greenbeans. A very american meal. Also had one bite of lasanga which tasted like shit. Chocolate milk to drink

4:45 - Left my dads and headed back home.

5:15- Arrive home, by this point I have a headache, dunno why. Out of Ibufrophen so I had to take some tylenol. I'm sure it won't help at all. Sat down and watched some tv, there is nothing on really

6:30pm - Tylenol didn't help. Got online, and this pretty much sums up my day, nothing exciting

I watched Midori Days last night (Midori no Hibi). It wasn't exactly the masterpiece I expected but it was cute, funny, and original. The manga was better simply because it was more indepth. Also watched WindTalkers, it sucked. I was going to watch Mulan yesterday but the back of the dvd makes the film look so drab and boring.

Tried an experiment. Masturbating is supposed to make your headache go away. And while it did make my headache feel a bit better, it didn't go away. I see the reasoning behinds it, a chemical release from the brain but there is no real truth to it. Well maybe a little, but not much

Three tomatoes are walking down the street, a poppa tomato, a momma tomato, and a little baby tomato. The baby tomato is lagging behind the poppa and momma tomato. The poppa tomato gets mad, goes over to the baby tomato and smooshes him --(STAMPS on the ground)-- and says: catch up.

Anyone know that the beginning of the Guns N' Roses song "Civil War" is from the movie "Cool Hand Luke". I've always loved that song and had no fucking idea. Go figure

movies to see, if you haven't already [17 Apr 2005|11:05pm]
Dark City - from Alex Proyas, the same director who did 'The Crow'. This film is one of my favorites and it's really not appreciated until you watch it a second or third time. Has a very dark comic book style to it. I watched it again today and it's still just as good.

City of Lost Children - From a pure visual standpoint it's amazing. The story is a bit lackluster simply because there is nothing really driving it foward. The link to the review sums up my thoughts perfectly. It's dark most of the time and has a very nigthmarish feel to it. Especially for kids. Still a must see. It picks up after the first 1/2 hour so stay with it.

Amores Perros - It's interesting to see how little moments in life can connect you to other people, Most of which you would never realize. The parallels between the dogs and their owners and how they desperately need each other to survive are also very interesting

City of God - Has a documentary feel to it. Whisks you away to another world entirely and drops you dab smack into the story. Very engrossing and violent but all realisticly. You think, wow this is probably happening somewhere and by the end of the movie you're sure of it

Y Tu Mama Tambien - The more I think about this film the more I love it. It's shocking at times but all realisticly, the sex is done frank and honest, nothing like the hollywood crap we are used to seeing. Another Ebert review that I 100% agree with. Most of which I love is the story behind the story, Mexico, and the nararration or what has happen. The movie has a shitload of depth

Minority Report - Chances are you've probably seen this one but if you haven't please do. Every scene in this movie I love and like most of the movies in this list I didn't grow to LOVE it until I watched it a second time. That is when you start to appreciate all the details of the story

Time Machine - I won't argue that it's the greatest movie but it seems alot of people passed this up and I feel bad. It's a solid film with a good story - abiet slow paced at times. But IMO that's what makes it good, it takes the time to let us soak things up. I want people to appreciate it as I do. Maybe the movie grew on me a bit too much, because boy did Roger give this a shitty score. So far in this list it's the only review I don't agree with 100%

Pleasantville - I loved this movie before I ever saw it, the use of colors juting out from the stark black/white sucked me in. And when I saw it I still thought "wow, what a great movie"

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Just when you think the end is going to get cheesy, it pays off instead. It made me feel as if I was in the 1930's listening to a radio show of some fantastic story. It's a fondness I have. Kinda wish I lived in the past but only for that reason *sigh* It also feels very similar to a comic book.

Joy Luck Club - a very emotional movie which tells the tales of a group of chinese women and their chinese/american daughters. A lesser man would say this is a chick flick but I've always believed people who use that term as a guideline don't know how to judge movies

Chilren on their Birthdays - Watched this movie on Starz. I wasn't expecting much but by the time it was over I was semi-floored. The girl actress in this movie is amazing.

M - I recommend everyone see this even though I haven't watched it yet. I've heard so many good things and I so rarely give old movies a chance

Anybody see 'Santa Sangre'? It's about a girl, her story, and women who worship a saint whose arms were cut off by rapists.

Also Lego StarWars is an adorable game, it's also very short so if I had the choice again I would rent instead of buying. Also the spoilers for Ep III are minimal, actually there are almost none that I won't forget by the time the movie premiers. Even still they are all in general vague things one naturally assume happens.

nascar races suck! [11 Apr 2005|03:10pm]
[ mood | still tired ]

So me and my family went to a Nascar race in Martinsville, VA this sunday. It was a late christmas present. We left Saturday morning, it takes about 6 hours to get there. Got to our hotel, went out to eat, and played poker unil about 2 in the morning (I won 12 dollars, YAY!). The race starts about 1pm but we decided to get up early because my parents said between traffic and the sheer amount of people you need to be early. So we get up at 7, eat breakfast and leave at 8 for the track, arrive at the track about 8:30, there was no wait and not that many people there. So here we are 9am in the morning wondering around with nothing to do, the race doesn't start for 4 hours and it's starting to get hot out (blah).

We start looking around and do some shopping but there really isn't that much to see. By now I'm bored and had no idea it would get worse. Skip ahead to just before the start of the race, god they kiss so many people's asses before they start, it was like a fucking awards ceremony in school. So the race is about to start, sure it's hot and I'm tired from the last couple of nights but it's sorta exciting. I semi-enjoy races on tv, they are interesting and I've always enjoyed other sporting events more in person than on tv. Sadly this was not the case. The race was beyond boring, by lap 50 I'm like "oh god they've got 450 more laps of this shit". The wrecks weren't even exciting because you couldn't hear or see what was happening really. If at any time you wanted to know what was going on you had to watch the screen, which is like watching tv with no audio. By lap 75 I'm tired, hot, and miserable, so tired that I'm practically falling asleep, the noise of the cars is deafening loud but even still is an hypnotic experience slowly putting you to sleep.

The seating was beyond cramped, it's bleacher seating and the amount they give you for each seat is like 12 damn inches. And the thing about racing is that half the fans there are fat, and I mean FAT!, some of them literally takng up 2 or 3 seats. So your cramped as hell, hot, tired, and bored. I'm ready to go! I leave to go to the bathroom and decided to rest inside where the food is sold, it's right under the bleachers and it's nice and cool. I sit down and prop myself up against a pole, my sister and her boyfriend soon join me, they hated it just as much as me. We sat there for a good 30 minutes, I was dosing in and out, I think I slept 10 minutes. Got up feeling semi-refreshed and decided to get a freezy ($4) >:| Went back to our seat, by then it was like lap 140 and I was fealing better. The race was able to keep my attention for about 50 laps until I started to get really hot and sleepy again. I excused myself a couple times to go in the shade and cool off. By lap 250 I'm fucking beyond miserable, so very tired and before this I didn't want my dad to see me sleeping. He loves the race and he's so damn sensitive that he'd be kinda upset if he didn't think we were enjoying ourself. So now I'm done thinking about other people, I tried to take a couple power naps but the sun is beating down and I'm squished from the seats. I leave, back to the shaded area, people are walking all about and staring but I don't care, I find an area, sit down and close my eyes. I think I was sleeping about an hour before the cops came up and asked me if I was alright, they thought I might of been a passed out drunk or sick somehow. I told them I was hot and tired and came in here to take a nap. They leave. I go back to sleep. Another hour passed and my older brother comes out, he feels sick and tired so he sits down beside me and takes a nap. We finally went back to the track with about 50 laps to go, they were actually semi-enjoyable. I didn't care who won. Finally the race ends, I'm so happy, I just want to get the hell out of there and go home. My stepmom bought food for us to eat while we waiting for traffic to clear out. All of us were hot and tired so we told her no and started the ride home. I couldn't afford to sleep on the ride, my brother wouldn't let me drive and he's not responsible enough to stay awake, so it was either sleep and die or force myself awake. Not that I would of drove, had it been up to me I would of got a hotel room for the night.

He has a little dvd system with 2 monitors in his Jeep, it is actually pretty nice. It's a cheap dvd player and the monitors sorta small, plus they just velcro around the headrest. I think he paid 200 dollars for it and as cheap as it is it's definitely worth it. I watched 'Saw', which was pretty good until near the end when they finally get the upper hand and do nothing. I hate movies where they have the chance to kill the bad guy but don't. It was no where near as bad as 'Returner' but it was still bad. The reveal at the very end, while semi-predictable sorta made up for it. Also watched 'The Incredibles' again, I've seen the movie like 4 times now. It's lovely

I don't understand how so many people can find races enjoyable, the stadiums are always filled up with 100,000 or more. It's miserable and the only conclusion I can come up with is that most of them are drunk or just very simple minded

I didn't go to work and slept til 2 in the afternoon today, I was burnt last night but I woke up today and it looks 10x worse. If I ever go to a race again (which I won't) I'm not showing up until it starts. Oh and we also went to the live taping of The Speed Channel preshow, it was boring. People are dumb and do anything to get on tv.

I think I'm going back to sleep

movies I suppose [06 Apr 2005|08:56pm]
[ mood | tired ]

It took me a while but I finally got around to watching Amores Perros and it was very good. All the stories were really good, first one is probably my fav though Octavio & Susana 9/10

Returner let me down. Katrina pay attention! The story I liked even if it's the typical time travel save the world type blah. What really bothered me is Miyamoto. So he has this intense hatred of Mizoguchi for killing his childhood friend, it's the entire reason he became a hitman/whatever he is, he says a couple times in the film that revenge is what drives him and it's his only real reason worth living. Ok so now the part I hate, he has the chance to kill this man like 20 times but doesn't, yet he has no problem killing the 20 nameless henchmen that work for Mizoguchi, it's retarded and it really started to bug me later in the film. At one point early in the movie after killing 5 or so of Mizoguchi's men he has the gun right to his head but he does nothing, later in the movie he has the speed wrist watch and kills everyone in the room EXCEPT who he wanted (was supposed) to kill. Take examples like that, multiply it by 10 and you've got the film. This Mizaguchi guy is a real asshole too, shooting the alien...FUCKER! From here we go to the music/cutesy scenes, god could it get anymore LAME! A little elevator jingle starts playing and you know they are going get all serious and mushy, but it's just cutesy dumb shit, nothing important. Also lets not forget Milly and the fact that she's a self depricating whiner,

Milly - "wah, I'm no good, I did nothing, I'm worthless"

Miyamoto - "you are great you big dummie you"

Milly - "*coy smile* ok Buddy"

REPEAT 5 times all at various points in the movie = Freakin BLAH!!

Even with all that I didn't hate it, I still give it 7.5/10, it was interesting and different in it's own ways

Paradise Dolls sucked, the 3 stories slowly got better but none of them were great. If it was hentia it would of been ok, crappy stories are a tradition. But this was supposed to be decent anime.

racing [01 Apr 2005|09:02pm]
[ mood | sore ]

Next weekend my family and I are going to attend a Nascar Race, in Martinsville. I've never actually been to a race nor do I enjoy watching the races on tv. I don't hate it, it just doesn't really interest me alot. Should still be fun anyways. I enjoy going to sporting events more than watching them on TV, especially baseball.

We went bowling again tonight, only for a little over an hour. I did bad, really bad, the worst I ever bowled. To be fair though I was tired and sliced my had at work so it didn't help. I've taken off for a while and today was my first day back in over a month, those bastards saved a bunch of work for me, all the time consuming custom shit no one knows how to do nor wants to bother trying in fear they might fuck up. It's alright though, something different that requires a good bit of thought.

Oh and I saw Christian Bale in Equilibrium, if this role is any indication he is going to make a piss-poor Batman. He reminded me of a fat in the face Keauno Reeves. Clive Owens would make a good Batman

more movies from Netflix [31 Mar 2005|09:34pm]

Watched Closer, Toyko Godfathers, and, Memories

Closer was not as good as I thought it would be. It was interesting yes but the plot felt a little thin. I guess I'm used to movies that build up to a reveal. This one just fizzled out. Felt like it should of been longer. Luckily Natalie is a damn hottie! 8.5/10

Memories was kind of a letdown, I wasn't too impressed. Stories just weren't in depth enough. Gravity Rose felt like the typical ghost in space story, I'm sure I read or saw something very similar to that before. Stink Bomb was good, probably my favorite of the three but it needed to be longer. The drawing style of Cannon Fodder felt like it was a story lifted right out of a children's book. It was good even though it was the shortest of the three. 7/10

Tokyo Godfathers I enjoyed, alot more than I suspected. The story has pretty much the same pace throughout the movie but I seemed to not really give into it until about 1/2 through. There are a couple good suprises. 8.5/10

And with that I'm going to eat and off to bed at 11. I want to go in to work early tomorrow, god knows why

President Bush's Easter message scares me [26 Mar 2005|10:09am]
[ mood | tired ]

President's Easter Message

Easter 2005

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I send greetings to all those celebrating Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice and triumph over death, Christ lifted the sights of humanity forever. In His teachings, the poor have heard hope, the proud have been challenged, and the weak and dying have found assurance. Today, the words of Jesus continue to comfort and strengthen Christians around the world.

During this holy season, we thank God for His blessings and ask for His wisdom and guidance. We also keep in our thoughts and prayers the men and women of our Armed Forces -- especially those far from home, separated from family and friends by the call of duty. May the joy of Easter fill our hearts with gratitude for our freedom, love for our neighbors, and hope for peace.

Laura and I wish you a Happy Easter.

4 games for under 71 dollars [24 Mar 2005|10:16pm]
[ mood | happy ]

bought some games the otherday. God of War, Ico, and Rygar for the PS2, aslo XIII for the GameCube. God of War is amazing, the story is greek mythology. The game has a superb fighting combo system, but whats amazing is the fact that a good bit of the gameplay is puzzle and platforming, much like Zelda. While not as fine tuned and polished as it could be, the story and cinematics are leaps and bounds over any game I've recently seen. It's a very very violent game, some nudity and sex too. The game clocked in at 12 hours start to finish. Maybe 15 actual hours

Ico is just as fantastic. It's like a game based in someone's dream, it looks that good. The game's focus is mainly on puzzles. There is a little bit of fighting and it looks really good. Any girl who plays this game will instantly fall in love with it. It reminds me of a more ethereal zen type Zelda experience. After all you do escort a princess around

Haven't played the other games yet

changed theme and such [20 Mar 2005|01:01am]
[ mood | I'm not in a mood ]

well I finally changed my theme and even though I'm not super excited for the new StarWars at the moment, the time will come. It's the E3 poster, changed slightly. I'll keep it until after the movie is released. After that I may go back to some old school themes, I still have them saved *lazy*

Some friends and family went bowling earlier tonight, I'm not the best at bowling but I do enjoy it. My games all hovered around 140ish, but I did have a 177 game, which is actually pretty good. Most of the games were played for money and since there were 19 of us on 5 lanes the payout was pretty good. The largest game we played was for a total of 95 dollars. I didn't win :(

Also watched The Incredibles. The movie is really good! Saw another movied called Love, Sex, and Eating the Bone. Basically the movie is about porno and if you watch you won't be able to perform with a woman. It also states that if your an artist you can overcome this erectile disfunction by taking pictures and seeing the little things in life that pass most people by. It was actually good. It also made me feel in-tune with the black community. Da shit iz off da hizzy!

Saint Patrick's Day [17 Mar 2005|10:36pm]

Went out to the bar with some friends for St. Patty's Day. They always get so drunk they become unmanagable and annoying. I chose not to be the DD this time around but I still didn't drink alot. I had 2 Long Island Ice teas, a redheaded slut, and a green legunes. I have no desire to get drunk, haven't for a couple years. There were years in and right after highschool that I looked forward to weekends because of all the parties, now I could give 2 shits less.

Bar hopping is not for me, I'm getting more and more anti-social as times goes on
